Dear AP Psych Student...

Image
What's up fellow #BLOGNATION, I have come to spread unfortunate upbringing news. I'm sad to say that this is my last AP Psychology blog post, and I want to appreciate the loyal audience I have built up to this very standpoint. Thank you. Now, moving on to the blog, I have an amazing letter for my AP Psychology students. Dear AP Psych 2024 Students,     The class with Halfen is fairly easy because she is a great teacher and provides sufficient resources to help you get not only a 5 on the AP Exam but as well as give you an amazing grade booster for your 100-point scale. She is very lenient on grades, as she is not harsh on late work. My advice for students taking AP Psychology next year is to study daily and do vocab daily as doing it last minute is not GOOD (SPEAKING FROM EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!). This will help you build up fundamental knowledge and will make it a whole lot easier to study for tests or exams instead of cramming. My favorite activity or project was some of the Step

How good is your memory?

Image
Welcome back loyal bloggers, today I will be taking a series of memory tests to see test the limits of what my brain can or cannot do on 10 minutes of sleep. My first memory test was simple and was based on finding the correct image for the penny off https://annex.exploratorium.edu/exhibits/common_cents/index.html. Although I got the image wrong, I was very close and I think I did okay. In terms of validity, I think it is valid as many people could mess up from that little text as people don't pay much attention to a coin that is worth 1 cent. For my second memory test, I decided to take a test on problem-solving. My score was around the area of my problem-solving skills being a "hit or miss" where it could work really well sometimes or just mess up the problem even more and worsen it. I think it's fair to say that and it is valid, as whenever I come across problems on a test, I either get entire credit for it or none at all. (no partial) Finally, for my third test,

Social Psychology

What's up, guys! Welcome back to my AP Psychology blog. Today we are funneling our brains into Social Psychology based on Christmas! For Compliance, you could end up buying a present for your friend when they ask you to get one for them. For Obedience, you could end up decorating the Christmas tree because your parents tell you to do so. For Social Facilitation, you could end up caroling around several neighborhoods and perform drastically better because there are a lot of people caroling with you. For Group Polarization, people in unison could all agree that this present is horrible while your friend is unwrapping it. Then you could say that you should throw it away entirely. For Reciprocity norms, you could give someone a present out of pure kindness and they return the favor.

Today on "The Anything Blog", I have decided to look at an article on Psych Central. This article is about Postpartum Depression and its causes and early signs as shown by this link:  https://psychcentral.com/depression/postpartum-depression#causes-and-early-sign s.In this article, we can learn that Postpartum Depression, or we will refer it to PPD for short, is a type of depression that occurs after giving birth to a child. PPD is very common, being able to affect up to 15 percent of new mothers. Developing PPD can happen within a few weeks after delivery or up to a single year after childbirth. Researchers and scientists cannot exactly pinpoint the cause of PPD, but many believe for it to be a combination of physical, emotional, and environmental factors. Specifically, changes in hormonal levels, sleep deprivation, and if they have had depression or anxiety. Early signs of PPD include feeling sad, anxious, or high levels of stress. This will eventually lead to more signs

Senses and Stuff

Welcome back, fellow bloggers! This week I found an interesting article relating to the sense of smell and a pandemic we all have experienced, Covid-19. In this article,  Covid Smell Science , The New York Times Magazine talks about how the loss of smell or taste is one of the early indications of having Covid-19. The article elaborates on the science behind the virus affecting olfactory systems and how researchers are trying to understand the mechanisms that cause the virus to affect it. It also brings light to the long-term consequences of Covid-19 anosmia and obstacles that challenge patients who have lost their sense of smell. It also talks a little about how Covid-19 is changing the field of olfactory science and may lead to new discoveries that people have never known about the human nose. This article to me is very interesting because it highlights initial theories about how Covid-19 affects our nasal cavity, and how the sense of smell might affect other senses we may have in ou

My Life

Image
Being born on March 31st, 2007, I was around the age of 1 when I took my first steps and started walking. My parents are unsure when I spoke my first word, but I must have uttered the words "mommy". Throughout my years of elementary and middle school, I was always a troublemaker and never played straight by the rules. This led me to eventually scrape my knee and get a scar as I rode my bike super fast and hit the curb, sliding across the concrete. I can see myself graduating high school and pursuing a college education somewhere in the medical field at UH. I hope to get married as well and maybe have a couple of kids. I hope I have a successful job where I am able to play around with my money as well as support my family. When I retire, I hope my own children are successful and I can spend the rest of my years living out a peaceful and humble attitude.
